PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — Child welfare officials in Rhode Island are investigating after a teen was hospitalized.
The state Department of Children, Youth and Families said Monday that a 17-year-old girl from Lincoln was admitted to Hasbro Children’s Hospital in Providence on Oct. 23.
The agency declined to say what prompted the hospital visit, but said a subsequent investigation determined “the child’s condition is likely to have been the result of maltreatment.”
The agency also said the girl’s family had prior involvement with the agency.
Due to confidentiality laws, the agency said it was prohibited from sharing additional information.
