RICHMOND, R.I. (AP) — Rhode Island and federal officials are investigating the crash of a single-engine plane on a Richmond farm.
The Westerly Sun reports that police say pilot Bruce Sheets was the only occupant and was able to escape the vehicle with bumps and bruises.
Police say a loss of power forced Sheets to attempt an emergency landing that ended up damaging some solar panels and a chain-link fence.
The Rhode Island Airport Corp., the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board are investigating what led to the power loss.
