Police: Driver brandished stolen gun in road rage incident

NORTH KINGSTOWN, R.I. (AP) — State police say a Rhode Island man used a stolen handgun during what police described as a road rage incident.

South Kingstown Police advised area law enforcement agencies at about 5:30 p.m. Wednesday that they were investigating a road rage incident where a firearm was brandished.

North Kingstown and state police stopped the suspect and found a stolen 9mm handgun in the vehicle.

Police say 21-year-old Tariq Famogun, of Providence, faces several charges including carrying a stolen firearm when committing a crime of violence.

Famogun was held on $25,000 bond at his arraignment Thursday.

He did not enter a plea and was referred to the public defender’s office.
