Fishing boat burns and sinks on Narragansett Bay

The Coast Guard says a 40-foot fishing boat that caught fire off Point Judith late Thursday morning, burned and sank in about 100 feet of water.

Three people on board the boat were safely rescued and taken to shore by a crew from the Coast Guard, and transferred to local emergency medical service personnel, their conditions were not immediately known.

Cause of the fire on board the dragger was not immediately known.
