A massive fire erupted overnight in a mill complex on the Central Falls – Pawtucket line, drawing fire companies from surrounding communities to battle the blaze.

The fire was reported at 280 Rand Street, and spread to several surrounding buildings.

“At least two or three buildings are engulfed, multiple partial collapses at this point,” said WPRO producer Alex Weldon from the scene of the fire.

“Embers are flying around, there’s a very large area right now, from what I’m seeing from law enforcement, they’re cordoning off large areas around this,” Weldon said.

Fire officials were evacuating residents in the surrounding neighborhood.
