CRANSTON, R.I. (AP) – Barbara Ann Fenton-Fung, a Republican activist and wife of a two-time GOP candidate for governor of Rhode Island, has filed paperwork to challenge to Democratic House Speaker Nicholas Mattiello.
Fenton-Fung filed the paperwork with the Board of Elections on Monday.
She said the move allows her to start fundraising and put a team in place to end what she calls the Mattiello horror show.
She’s married to Cranston Mayor Allan Fung, a two-time Republican nominee for governor.
Mattiello says he’s running on his record. Mattiello has faced criticism recently for ordering a performance audit of the Rhode Island Convention Center Authority.
