PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) – A Rhode Island man who repeatedly allowed his mother with dementia to wander away from their home has been sentenced to serve two years in prison.

Carlton Vose, of Pawtucket, was sentenced this week to five years in prison, with two to serve and the remainder suspended with probation.

He was also ordered to attend counseling to have no contact with his mother.

Authorities say the 50-year-old man was convicted by a jury in December of six counts of criminal neglect of an adult with severe impairments.
