Rhode Island airports gets new fire chief

WARWICK, R.I. (AP) – Rhode Island’s main airport has a new fire chief.

The Rhode Island Airport Corp. has named William Greenwood the new fire chief at T.F. Green Airport in Warwick.

Greenwood, a Keene, New Hampshire, resident has served for 24 years at Manchester-Boston Regional Airport in New Hampshire, the last 12 as assistant chief.

As chief, Greenwood will establish and implement departmental policy, be directly responsible for the administration and enforcement of federal aviation regulations and oversee the emergency response operation.

Iftikhar Ahmad, president and CEO of the Rhode Island Airport Corp., says he is pleased Greenwood “has agreed to lead this vital public safety component at the airport.”

WPRI-TV reports that T.F. Green has not had a permanent fire chief since December 2017.
