After word Friday that the projected cost of Rhode Island’s failed computer system at the Department of Human Services (DHS) for benefits has grown to nearly half a billion dollars, Rep. Patricia Serpa told WPRO’s Tara Granahan.
“We should ditch the whole thing and start over,” Serpa, the chairperson of the House Oversight Committee, added, “‘We have a category 5 spending situation.” Serpa also said that along with DHS, even more departments are operating in the red.
