PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) – Republican Allan Fung has launched his second campaign for Rhode Island governor with a video.
The Cranston mayor touts his successes in the video posted Tuesday, and goes on to say he’ll do the same for Rhode Island. The ad ends with the words “Fung Governor.”
Fung is scheduled to make an unspecified announcement later on Tuesday. A news release about the event included a “Fung for governor” logo.
Fung ran for governor unsuccessfully in 2014, losing to now-Gov. Gina Raimondo, a Democrat, in a three-way race.
He was first elected mayor of Cranston in 2008. Before that, he served as a city councilman and worked as a lawyer.
House Minority Leader Patricia Morgan launched her own campaign for governor on Monday. Morgan said Tuesday she welcomes Fung to the race.
