After two weeks of stalemate, House Speaker Nick Mattiello joined WPRO’s Tara Granahan Friday morning to explain where the state stands in this year’s budget impasse. While Mattiello said no new developments had occured, he did say he has had three conversation with Governor Gina Raimondo on the matter.
When asked by Granahan if the Governor urged him and Senate President Dominick Ruggerio to have a meeting? He said there were no specifics, only “general terms”, adding he has “no doubt something else is afoot.”
By the end of the conversation, the speaker decided he would take charge and told Tara he will call Ruggerio on Monday morning.
