Providence Performing Arts Center (PPAC) announces the Broadway sensation, “Hamilton” the musical will be coming in the 2018-19 season.
President of PPAC Lynn Singleton says new or renewing Broadway Series subscribers this year for the 2017-18 season will have guaranteed tickets to “Hamilton” when renewing for the 2018-19 season.
“We are in the process now trying to convince, cajole and determine with the producers to what’s the appropriate amount of time it can play in the market,” Singleton said. “I think our overall subscription base will jump this year, even the year before Hamilton, 20-some percent because that is whats happened in other markets that basically announced the show will be there the following year.”
He said dates are not confirmed, however Singleton says he is hoping for more than a week’s worth of shows.
The famed musical tells the story of America’s first treasury secretary and incorporates hip-hop and Broadway songs. “Hamilton” has won nearly a dozen Tony awards.
