A Providence nightclub was ordered closed on an emergency basis, after four people were stabbed early Monday morning.
The Providence Board of Licenses met in an emergency meeting Monday afternoon and ordered a 72-hour closure for Flow, a club on Cranston Street in the West End, after four people suffered non life threatening injuries following an altercation reported at 1:14 A.M.
“The stabbing victims are in stable conditions and we pray,” said board chair state Sen. Juan Pichardo. “We also remind ourselves that these are human beings and they’re enjoying the nightlife, but at the same time, became victims also.”
He said the board takes the incident very seriously, and set a hearing on Thursday to hear testimony from police and representatives of the nightclub.
“We want to make sure that safety, and public safety of everyone in the neighborhood is of importance,” he said.
The board issued subpoenas for club personnel and access to surveillance video, which police said they were denied.
Police spoke with two of the four stabbing victims, said Sgt. David Tejada, but they were unable or unwilling to say who stabbed them or what sparked the altercation.
