PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — The Providence Board of Licenses has ordered sanctions for a city club after a shooting outside the building last month.
The Providence Journal reports that the Providence Board of Licenses on Thursday ordered Vault Lounge to shut down from July 27-31 and roll back weekend closing hours from 2 a.m. to 1 a.m. for 60 days. It was also ordered to boost weekend security.
The sanctions come after the June 21 shooting that left 31-year-old Anselmo Depina with a minor injury.
The board says the shooting is the club’s fourth incident within several years and the first involving violence.
Vault Lounge CEO Rosemary Morel Garcia couldn’t be reached for comment Thursday.
The building that the club is housed in at 387 Atwells Avenue is owned by Congressman David Cicilline’s brother John Cicilline, a convicted felon. Congressman Cicilline at one time also owned a portion of the building, but transfered his share of the building to his brother John in March 2015 after a double stabbing at the same club.
