
Attorney General Peter Kilmartin announced Wednesday that the Statewide Grand Jury has issued an indictment charging Providence Councilman Kevin Jackson with two counts of unlawful appropriation, one count of embezzlement, one count of filing a false document with a government entity, and one count of personal use of campaign funds.
It is alleged that Jackson unlawfully appropriated campaign finance contributions between October 21, 2014 and July 31, 2015. It is further alleged that on September 17, 2013, Jackson filed false campaign finance reports with the Rhode Island Board of Elections, and on dates between October 21, 2014 and July 31, 2015, he used campaign finance contributions for personal use.
Further, it is alleged that between January 1, 2009 and January 26, 2016, Jackson embezzled funds from the Providence Cobras Track and Field Club, and between July 13, 2013 and January 26, 2016, he unlawfully appropriated funds from the Track and Field Club.
The Rhode Island State Police conducted the investigation. Jackson is schedule dot be arraigned in Providence County Superior Court on August 10, 2016.
