WARWICK, R.I. (AP) — The Occupational Safety and Health Administration is investigating after a man was injured in an elevator accident at a Warwick business.
Authorities say it happened at around 9 a.m. Wednesday at Unit Tool. The worker was taken to Rhode Island Hospital with an arm injury.
Officials tell WPRI-TV the worker’s safety agency is opening an inspection.
Police say the agency will rule on whether it’s a workplace accident.
Police say the man initially appeared to have fallen into an elevator shaft, but it was actually a lift that moves between two floors. They say the man was moving something on the second floor when he fell.
Authorities didn’t immediately identify him.
