CRANSTON, R.I. (AP) — Some city councilors in Cranston want to know more about a senior center van driver who posed as an elderly woman during a press conference.
WJAR-TV reports the council debated the fallout from the incident in January. The Cranston Senior Center’s van driver posed as a woman for a media event last month and Senior Services Director Sue Stenhouse resigned not long after.
Few details have been divulged since then, but some council members, mostly Democrats, want more answers from Republican Mayor Allan Fung. But others, mainly Republicans, say the case has been closed.
Councilman Donald Blotts says that it doesn’t make a difference whether she resigned on her own or the mayor asked for her resignation.
Republicans blocked a move to question the mayor’s staff behind closed doors.
