PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — State police are investigating after an SUV was struck by gunfire as it drove on Route 146 in Providence.
Police say it happened just after 11:30 p.m. Tuesday as the SUV traveled between Admiral Street and Branch Avenue.
No one was injured.
Police say an occupant in a dark-colored sedan shot three times at the SUV, hitting it in the rear driver’s side door.
The driver of the SUV moved into the breakdown lane and sped away.
State police are asking people who were traveling on Route 146 north on Tuesday evening between 11:30 p.m. to 11:45 p.m. to call them.
It’s not clear if police have a suspect or motive in the shooting.
