PROVIDENCE— Volunteers from Hasbro Toys, foster families and high profile guests, including Governor Gina Raimondo, came together to sort gifts for more nearly 540 children in DCYF care.
The group that organizes the annual drive, Foster Forward, teamed up with Ocean State Job Lot, DCYF and others to provide foster children with donated toys, as well as pajamas and a new winter coat in time for Christmas.
Among the many lending a helping hand, Providence Bruins Captain Tommy Cross and Assistant Captain Brandon DeFazio sorted clothing that was free of cost to those in need.
“Foster Forward is a close partner with the Providence Bruins and do a lot of work for the community, especially around the holidays helping out people especially kids providing them with clothes,” Cross said Tuesday afternoon. “It is really important and we are out here to lend a helping hand.”
Over 8,000 toys have been donated by Hasbro and were distributed at a store-front in Pawtucket on Tuesday.
