PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — Fire crews battled a blaze that began in a popular pizza parlor in Providence’s Federal Hill neighborhood and quickly spread to upper floors.
WPRI-TV reports the fire broke out just before 6 p.m. Tuesday above Bob and Timmy’s Pizza on Spruce Street.
Deputy Assistant Fire Chief Joseph Desmarais says the fire started in the venting system of the restaurant’s wood fire stove and spread through the duct work and vent into the building’s upstairs.
The pizza parlor is on the first floor of a four-story building.
Desmarais says crews extinguished the blaze in about 15 minutes.
The pizza shop closed for the remainder of the evening.
