Six workers at a Dunkin’ Donuts in Exeter had to be taken to the hospital after they were sickened by smoke.
Fire Chief David Chamberlain tells WPRI-TV that an electrical element in a quick-cook oven shorted out Wednesday around 8:45 a.m. and sent smoke into the restaurant.
Workers complained of respiratory issues and headaches.
Chamberlain says there was no fire.
He says officials conducted health and electrical inspections at the building. It reopened by noon.
A spokeswoman for Canton, Massachusetts-based parent company Dunkin’ Brands said it was looking into the matter.
