Two Rhode Island men facing firearms charges after one allegedly pointed a gun at another driver on Interstate 95 in Massachusetts during what police called “a game of cat and mouse” have been held without bail.
Twenty-one-year-old Yomar Romero, of Pawtucket, and 20-year-old Justin Smith, of Providence, were held pending a dangerousness hearing scheduled for next week after pleading not guilty Thursday.
Smith, who allegedly pointed the gun on Wednesday night, faces an additional charge of assault with a dangerous weapon.
Police say a gun and ammunition were found in their vehicle and neither defendant had a firearms license.
Romero’s lawyer argued that his client should not be held because he was not the person alleged to have pointed the gun.
Smith’s lawyer said his client denies the charges.
