A House committee is finalizing plans for hearings into what went wrong in the state’s failed $75 million deal with Curt Schilling’s video game company, 38 Studios
WPRI-TV reports that House Oversight Committee Chairwoman Karen MacBeth says she’s been conferring with the House speaker and his legal counsel about dates and subjects.
The Cumberland Democrat says she’s wants to hold a hearing in October and in November. More could follow.
MacBeth says she wants to know more about the state’s use of taxpayer-backed bonds and examine the way various outside consultants do business with the state.
Court documents were recently released in the lawsuit brought by the state’s economic development agency against the former Red Sox pitcher and others involved in the 2010 deal.
The company declared bankruptcy.
