Twin River casino is moving forward with plans to build a hotel on their Lincoln property and could have it open by November of 2016.

Last week, Twin River representatives appeared before the Lincoln Town Council, winning unanimous approval of their application for amendment and zoning changes to accommodate construction of the hotel.

Twin River spokeswoman Patti Doyle says there will be a series of meetings in October and November, culminating with a public hearing and Planning Board vote on November 18.

If the casino gets their final approval from the board, Doyle says they’ll look to begin construction soon thereafter.

“If all goes as we hope on the 18th of November, then I think that we can look for the hotel to be up and running by the same time the following year,” she said.

Doyle said they will likely refine architectural drawings and assess the winter weather before putting shovels into the ground. She said construction is projected to take one year.

The town council vote comes after State House lawmakers passed a bill lifting a ban on construction of a hotel on Twin River grounds this session; the governor signed the bill into law in April.

The 200-room, four-story hotel would accommodate guests who plan an extended stay at the casino, something Twin River management has said will help the casino maintain its competitive edge and create jobs.
