A Providence man was indicted by a grand jury on Thursday, on charges of prostituting a minor and possessing child pornography.
According to the US Attorney’s Office, 35-year-old Dujuan Harris was charged for allegedly bringing a 17-year-old girl from Texas back in June for the purpose of trafficking her on Backpage.com. Police say when the victim refused to participate in the arranged sexual encounters, Harris removed the battery from her phone and refused to let her leave his apartment.
On June 30, Harris’ apartment was raided by police and the victim was secured. During a search of the apartment, several nude images of the girl were found on Harris’s cell phone and Skype profile.
According to the indictment, while Harris was detained by police, he allegedly called the witness in an attempt to intimidate her in an attempt to influence her testimony.
Harris is charged with two counts related to sex trafficking, two counts related to child pornography, and one count of witness intimidation.
