The former treasurer of the Rhode Island Junior League now faces felony embezzlement charges.
In December, WPRO was the first to report that police were investigating allegations of embezzlement within the organization, which describes itself as a group “promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women and improving communities through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers.”
On Monday, State Police announced they arrested 48-year-old Kimberly Moore of Scituate for allegedly stealing more than $125,000 dollars from the League.

Moore now faces charges of embezzlement and accessing a computer for fraudulent purposes.
Police say Moore, who served as treasurer of the Junior League from June 2012 to December 2014, transferred funds from the Junior League’s investment account to the group’s checking account. She then made checks payable to herself and made ATM withdrawals, hiding her actions with false financial statements that she presented to the group’s board of directors. Police say Moore embezzled more than $125,000 during that time.
If convicted, Moore could face up to ten years in prison.
