A new survey conducted by Healthsource Rhode Island shows more than half of the state’s uninsured have enrolled in health coverage since 2012.
“We’ve made a major impact in terms of reducing the uninsured rate in Rhode Island,” said Director Anya Rader Wallach “We estimate there’s about 50,000 Rhode Islanders who remain uninsured.”
Wallach said the state’s benefit exchange surveyed over 12,000 Rhode Islanders and said the more than 37,000 have enrolled in Healthsource in three years.
“Only five percent remain uninsured, that’s great news, on the other hand we want to reduce that even more,” said Wallach.
She said the group’s next objective is to find ways to expand outreach and enroll more Rhode Islanders.
