A Central Falls man was charged with starting a fire in his girlfriend’s apartment following a heated argument last week.
Police say Derrick Person had been arguing with his girlfriend when he took he clothes outside and lit them on fire. When the girlfriend confronted Person, he grabbed her by the throat and threw her to the ground. A short time later flames could be seen coming from her bedroom.
Fire crews were able to quickly put the flames down and no tenants were injured.
Person was arrested and charged with domestic arson Monday morning and order held without bail until a hearing set for September 9.
