A Central Falls man was arrested Monday after witnesses allegedly saw him fire a handgun into a wooded area near a municipal parking lot.
Police say the incident took place on Ledge Street; Rondell Diaz, 18, was identified after a witness showed a video off the firearm discharge to police.
When officers located Diaz, he fled on foot and attempted to discard the firearm before he was apprehended.
The firearm was seized and identified as a .380 caliber, semi-automatic handgun with the serial numbers scratched off.
Diaz was charged with carrying a firearm without a permit, firing in a compact area, and altering the identification of a firearm.
He was ordered held on $5,000 bail.
