A South Kingstown is under arrest Friday morning after Rhode Island State Police were tipped off that he had allegedly attempted to solicit a minor and shared indecent materials with the victim.
Jason August, 32, was arrested without incident and charged after Boston Police told state authorities he was the Rhode Island suspected in their investigation. During his arrest, several pieces of digital material were also confiscated for a forensic investigation.
August is a employed as a Providence Firefighter and is the House Director for Sigma Pi Housing Corporation of Rhode Island, located on the University of Rhode Island. He also has a recorded of coaching at URI, but it appears he had no inappropriate conduct with minors.
The investigation is still ongoing.
If convicted of both charges, August faces up to 10 years in prison and a $5,000 fine.
