JOHNSTON, R.I. (AP) – Authorities say a tip led to the arrest of a Rhode Island man who allegedly had several weapons in his apartment.
WJAR-TV reports that 36-year-old Nicholas Colacone, of Johnston, was arrested Wednesday at the Simmons Village Apartments.
Police say they found five guns, several knives, a bullet proof vest, ammunition, brass knuckles and drugs during a search of his apartment.
Police say a 2000 felony conviction prohibits Colacone from having weapons. They say his apartment was decorated with Nazi and white supremacy banners.
The ATF and bomb squad assisted in the investigation. Police have not commented on why Colacone had the weapons.
He remains jailed on $50,000 bail.
