The State Fire Marshall was on the scene of a fate fire late Wednesday morning in East Providence.
Officials say the blaze started around 3:30a.m. and claimed the life of a woman. Neighbors say a man lived at the home with his mother and dog; only the man made it out alive.
“That fire had been burning a while before we got there,” said East Providence Fire Chief Oscar Elmasian.
“You hate to see something like this no matter where it is or who it is.”
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
