Cranston Police Chief Michael Winquist announced late Monday afternoon his department would be opening a new substation to help make police services more accessible to residents.
According to a release, the new substation will be located on the first floor of the Knightsville Manor located at 85 Briggs Street. Officers would have 24 hour access to the substation and would be linked into the same databases used at police headquarters.
““The addition of this satellite office fits perfectly into my vision of decentralizing police services to afford the public more convenient access to our resources, while continuing to strengthen our relationships within the community we protect and serve,” said Winquist in a statement.
The space, technology and office furniture were donated to police by the Cranston Housing Authority.
