A man is under arrest after he allegedly drove onto the Portsmouth Middle School soccer field, damaging the turf and a neighboring private property.
Police say the incident occurred Thursday afternoon as children were being dismissed from classes. Witnesses say the car was driving recklessly at speeds close to 50 miles per hour on the field and his actions caused the airbags of the car to deploy.
Based on witness testimony, Police were able to track the car back to its owner, a female Portsmouth resident, who had loaned the car to Ryan Deblois, 34, who said he had been driving the car. Officers learned Deblois had an outstanding warrant for failing to appear in court.
Deblois was arrested and taken to the ACI where he awaits his arraignment on charges of reckless driving and vandalism and disorderly conduct.
