Providence Mayor Jorge Elorza said the city “can’t have that kind of stuff” when talking about the mayhem that followed the Providence College Friars Men’s Ice Hockey team winning their first national title.
“We’re doing a full investigation right now and we’ll have more to share as the days unfold,” said Elorza.
After the final horn blew, many students filed onto the streets next to the college and started partying and even lit a couch on fire.
No arrests were made, but one officer was injured when a bottle struck him in the head.
“I know those things get very unruly very very quickly and I am not going to second guess the police when they’re in that position,” said Elorza.
