PROVIDENCE, Conn. (AP) – Rhode Island State Police have arrested a woman accused of driving under the influence with her two young sons in the back seat of her car.
The woman, 29-year-old Carol Salgado of Providence, was arrested early Saturday after she was stopped for failing to stay in her lane.
A police department in Seekonk, Massachusetts, had alerted departments in nearby towns that a possibly intoxicated driver was entering Rhode Island on Route 195.
Salgado was charged with DUI and refusing to take a chemical test. Her two sons, ages 3 and 5, were released to a family member.
Salgado was arraigned and released. She could not immediately be reached for comment.
