A Coventry man’s run from the police ended poorly Thursday night after high speeds and slippery roads caused him to crash into a telephone pole.
Coventry Police report that at 6:45PM they received a call about an erratic driver who almost collided with a vehicle head on. Two police units located the erratic driver on Washington Street and eventually stopped the vehicle; however when officers approached the car the driver sped off at 70mph.
Police pursued but called off the chase when the speed and snowy roads became too dangerous, moments later the fleeing car fishtailed and slammed into a telephone pole.
Police say Brandon Mott, 35, is being charged with two felony counts of possession of a controlled substance, DUI, evading police, and driving with a suspended license.
