Governor Gina Raimondo said drivers should be cautious and use their best judgment when driving on the roads during the second snow storm in a week.
“People are saying, ‘oh it’s a regular snow storm,’ it is a regular snow storm but be safe it’s icy, it’s snowing, it’s sleet; so watch the travel bans, drive slowly and be careful of the plows,” said Raimondo.
Accuweather forecasts between six and twelve inches of snow will fall in southern New England with up to sixteen inches predicted in the north.
The morning snow will turn into freezing rain through the midmorning and early afternoon before finally turning back into snow again in time for the evening commute.
The city of Providence has enacted a parking ban and a number of vehicles have already been towed.
Raimondo warned that if drivers can stay home they should.
