DEFLATEGATE..
Not sure we’ve seen a week like this in a long time. Up until moments ago at press time the NFL had not issued a statement regarding the controversy..leaving the most rudderless environment possible to linger, even through a day of press conferences by Bill Belechick and Tom Brady.
We have theories on thermal dynamics competing with accusations of plain old cheating. We have a head coach who avoids possible responsibility and tosses the deflated ball to his quarterback. We have the reported first alerted , the interceptor of the ball deny any knowledge. It has gone on and on.
It reminds me of the old Mad Libs. A certain narrative is printed with multiple blank spaces…and nobody’s post filled in story looks like anyone else’s.
And true to form the NFL will take its time in the investigation…count on nothing prior to the Super Bowl which will set a new record for viewership and fist fights over beers and snacks.
More , I’m sure, next week.
Meanwhile, there is a rumor that POTUS made a speech this week. While he accurately reflected on some aspects of an improved economy, most of the time he just lectured. And the constant drone of improving the political culture was snuffed out by his ad lib about winning twice. He’s as snarky as those he accuses of the same.
PC continues to roll and URI gets back on track. Both basketball teams with reasonable shots for post season play. Makes the winter bearable.
Although this may be the first weekend of true snow. So go slow.
