The NFL has released a statement saying they are investigating the case involving the under-inflated footballs from the AFC Championship game.
According to a press release, the NFL has already conducted 40 interviews including Patriots staff and game officials. The league says the goal of the investigation is to determine how the footballs became under-inflated.The statement also said a forensic team has been brought in to help review electronic, video, and othe rpeices of evidence gathered during the investigation.
The NFL says after they were alerted to the under-inflated balls by the Indianapolis Colts staff, the balls were properly inflated for the second half of the football game.
Patriots owner Robert Kraft also released a statement, saying his organization is cooperating with the investigation and that “Competitive balance and the integrity of the game are the foundation of what makes our league so special.”
During two separate press conferences Thursday, both head coach Bill Belichick and quarterback Tom Brady denied any knowledge of the footballs not being in regulation.
