Around fifty nurses gathered outside Woman and Infants hospital in Providence to protest management not hiring enough local workers.
Patrick Quinn of the New England Healthcare Union change needs to be made to how the hospital hires new personnel.
“The hospital is consistently not replacing people, they’ve stopped hiring anybody locally, they’re bringing in outside travel nurses which has really hurt our patient satisfaction scores,” said Quinn.
Quinn said Care New England needs to realize Women and Infants is a local hospital and needs to hire local workers.
“The priorities of the hospital are backwards, we should be investing in the workforce and building up the skills and figuring out a way to get this economic situation behind us by hiring local nurses,” said Quinn.
