Fall River resident Jeffery Souza was arraigned Friday morning in Newport on charges of being a fugitive from justice in the shooting death of Kyle Brady.
Relatives of Souza sat in the back of the court house crying as the defendant waived is right to extradition to Massachusetts where he is facing two firearm related charges; the investigation into Souza’s connection to the New Year’s Day shooting death is still ongoing.
After being transported to Fall River, Souza appeared in district court where he was arraigned on firearm charges. he was ordered held without bail.
The Fall River Herald reports there was an ongoing dispute between Souza and Brady over a woman.
The incident occurred at the intersection of Albert Street and Huard Street on Thursday around 1:17 a.m. found Kyle Brady, 28, also of Fall River, shot. Brady was pronounced dead at the scene. Souza was arrested in Newport several hours later.
Souza is scheduled for a dangerousness hearing on January 7.
