Providence officials are reporting the city was in the black for fiscal year 2014 with a million dollar budget surplus.
According to a release, the independent audit conducted by Marcum LLP for the fiscal year which ended in June showed a $1.1 million budget surplus; this marks the second year in a row that city has ended its fiscal year on a good note.
The City of Providence had a $662 million budget for FY2014.
The surplus went to pay the cumulative deficit which stands at $8.6 million.
