Cranston Police respond to an apartment complex on Farmington Avenue, where a man was found dead late Tuesday morning. They are treating the death as suspicious.
“A family member of the deceased, who lives at this location, had not been heard from for a few days,” said Colonel Michael Winquist, Cranston’s police chief, outside the Farmington Terrace Apartments.
“When she tried to get into the apartment, she was unable to do so, there was no response. The manager allowed her inside the apartment. When she entered the apartment, she found her relative deceased,” said Col. Winquist.
He said the Attorney General’s office responded to the scene, and police were awaiting a court order to allow them to search the apartment.
Police are also looking for a vehicle in connection to the incident. Winquist tells WPRO News the public should be on the lookout for a 2009 Silver Chevy Impala with the license plate F665.
“If anyone sees this vehicle we recommend they do not approach and that they call 911 and report it to the police right away,” said Winquist.
The medical examiner has yet to make a determination on the cause of death, however Winquist said it appears to be a homicide.
“As you know, we haven’t had any homicides in 2014 and only one homicide last year.”
