The Rhode Island State Police are set to reach out to the community next week and hold a forum following multiple protests in Providence over the grand jury decisions in Ferguson Missouri and Staten Island.
Colonel Steven O’Donnell told WPRO News that the State Police has reached out to the community on many occasions and had held a forum following the first Grand Jury decision in Ferguson.
“One of the questions that came up during the forum was ‘Colonel when this is completed will you come back and talk to us no matter what happens with the grand jury?’ we said absolutely,” said O’Donnell.
O’Donnell said he expects one of the topics of discussion will be the protesters who blocked the highway during the first Ferguson protest.
“Hopefully we have that dialog where any person who wants to protest they have to do it where they can’t interfere with somebody’s opportunity to and from the hospital,” said O’Donnell.
O’Donnell said he hopes people will see how involved the State Police are with helping build stronger communities.
