PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) – A man has been sentenced to two consecutive life terms plus 10 years in the killing of three young people in a plot to steal money and drugs in 2012.
Judge Robert Krause on Thursday said 18-year-old Quandell Husband will be in his mid-to-late 50s before he is eligible for parole.
Husband was found guilty by a jury in July of three counts of murder, plus conspiracy and weapons charges in the slayings of Shemeeka Barros, Michael Martin and Damien Colon in Providence. Three children were in the home at the time but weren’t hurt.
Three other men pleaded guilty. Husband was not the shooter, but prosecutors said he was just as responsible for the deaths.
Husband’s lawyer said he was at home with his family when the shootings occurred.
