PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) – Lawmakers are meeting to review the state’s plans for dealing with Ebola.
Rep. Joseph McNamara has called a hearing of the House Committee on Health, Education and Welfare on Wednesday afternoon at the State House to review the state’s health care preparations and prevention planning.
The committee invited officials from the Department of Health and leaders of United Nurses & Allied Professionals and the Rhode Island State Nurses Association to the hearing.
There have been no cases of Ebola in Rhode Island. But the state is home to many Liberians.
Nearly 5,000 people have been killed by the virus across West Africa.
