PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) – Rhode Island’s attorney general says a 20-year-old man has pleaded guilty to first-degree murder in a Christmas Eve killing in Pawtucket last year.
Daquan Watts entered the plea in Superior Court Friday in the killing of Ryan Almeida. The Providence man also pleaded guilty to discharge of a firearm with death resulting, conspiracy to commit murder and carrying a pistol without a license.
Prosecutors say Watts and another man shot Almeida outside an apartment complex in Pawtucket on Christmas Eve. Watts was arrested in Maine in April and returned to Rhode Island to face the murder charge.
Police said previously Almeida was gunned down at the Galego Court housing complex in retaliation for an earlier shooting.
Sentencing is scheduled for Jan. 7.
