Fresh off of Tuesday night’s victory, Providence Mayor-Elect Jorge Elorza took to the streets to thank voters for their support.
Elorza stopped by West Side Diner to shake hands and more face-to-face time with voters.
“I feel ready for what lies ahead,” said Elorza, “Make no mistake about it, we have great challenges here in the city, but these aren’t challenges that can’t be resolved by the great people we have here in Providence.”
Elorza said he is still excited over the election where he scored a big victory on both Providence’s East and South side, securing 53% of the vote. The former housing court judge said he is already making preparations to transition into the office at City Hall.
“You’ll be seeing a plan for the transition team being unrolled early next week, and we’re going to hit the ground running right away to do a review of all of City Hall and make all of the personnel decisions from then on,” said Elorza.
Elorza said he plans on speaking with Providence’s former mayors to prepare for his first term in elected office.
