PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) – A man who was fatally shot at Providence housing complex had just attended the arraignment of a suspect in a July killing that police believed was gang-related.
The Providence Journal reports that Terry Robinson was in the packed courtroom Wednesday as Justice “JD” Andrade pleaded not guilty to murder in a July 19 shooting death. He was seated with Andrade’s 20-year-old brother, Delacey.
Judy Crowell, Andrade’s lawyer says the two men were shot minutes later at as they got out of a car at the housing complex.
She said people should be able to come to court and not be afraid of a shooting.
Providence Maj. David Lapatin declined to comment Thursday. He says police have suspects.
Andrade was listed in good condition Thursday night at Rhode Island Hospital.
